Children in the Swansea area who suffer from a range of disabilities and associated medical conditions receive treatment at the Children’s Therapy Centre, based at Hafan Y Môr, Singleton Hospital.
These children require more and more specialised equipment and resources to help them to develop to their full potential.
Typically, these children are aged between birth and nineteen years and often suffer from Cerebral Palsy, Down’s Syndrome, Cystic Fibrosis and other medical conditions.
In 2003, Swansea NHS Trust carried out extensive renovation work to re-house the Centre and the need became clear for special apparatus and ‘Toys’ to furnish it. Parents, carers, therapists and
friends formed the Support Group to help in providing for as many of these needs as possible. In addition, the group offers support and help to other parents and carers, with phone support as well as
coffee mornings and family events and get-togethers.
Much has already been achieved and the Group wants financial support, help and visibility to continue to create those extra opportunities for very deserving children.
